Postmortem photography was
a thriving business in the 19th Century
Times have changed. Doctors
no longer bleed us with leeches nor prescribe poisonous “blue pills.” We don’t
drape crape over the mirror when somebody dies. We don’t sit up all night in
the living room with the body. We aren't confined to solitude for months following a death.
